The Memorial ACTe
The Memorial Acte, also called MACTe, soon became the most emblematic museum of the Guadeloupe archipelago. In the heart of the city of Pointe à Pitre, the black box overhung by silver roots, houses a dense permanent collection on the slave trade and slavery. Combining historical artefacts and works of art, the permanent exhibition retraces a painful history but in a unique setting. Temporary exhibitions are regularly organised. The Park of engraved rocks
The history of the islands of Guadeloupe begins long before French colonisation and the Edgar Clerc Museum, in Le Moule, retraces the history of pre-Columbian peoples. In this Top 5, we suggest you discover the Amerindian history in the Parc des Roches Gravées in Trois-Rivières. You will wander through a wooded area dotted with Amerindian petroglyphs. The visit is guided and you will learn many things about the way of life of the first inhabitants of the archipelago.
