Distillerie Bologne - 300 years of history

HISTORY

The oldest distillery in the Guadeloupe Islands, Distillerie Bologne is located in the commune of Basse-Terre, with a breathtaking view of the Soufrière volcano.

Formerly a sugar dwelling, the estate has passed through a number of owners, including Jean-Antoine AME NOEL, who purchased the property at the age of 61 in 1830. He became the first man of color to become a major landowner in Guadeloupe.

Mainly dedicated to sugar production for export, it wasn't until 1887 that Habitation Bologne became Distillerie Bologne. It is now the Sargenton-Callard family, owners of the Distillery for 4 generations, whose mission is to restore agricultural rum to its former glory.

Awarded the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) label, the Distillerie Bologne is an integral part of the monuments of the Basse-Terrienne region.

RUMS FROM THE BOLOGNE DISTILLERY

The Bologne distillery possesses the largest stock of aged rum in the making, with a semi-buried cellar conducive to the ageing of agricultural rum. The distillery has an exclusive variety of sugar cane, the black cane, with which they produce a limited-edition 100% black cane rum: the Black Cane Bologne.

In 2020, Bologne produced Guadeloupe islands’ 1st vintage of organic agricultural rum, and in 2021 they became the first distillery to obtain the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification at the highest level.

It is the first distillery of the Guadeloupe islands who made vintage agricultural rum. Bologne offers light, white and amber rums for all your cocktails, as well as a range of premium white and aged rums expressing the House's expertise and the aromatic identity of the terroir between volcanic earth and the Caribbean Sea.
