ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Located 18 kilometres southeast of Saint-François,
Petite-terre is composed of two islands (Terre-de-Haute and Terre-de-bas).

Declared a National Nature Reserve in 1998 by ministerial decree no. 98-801.

With a total surface area of 990 ha, it consists of a marine area of 842 ha and two terrestrial areas of 148 ha including Terre-de-Haute 31ha (forbidden access) and Terre-de-Lobas 117 ha.
Petite-Terre has exceptional marine and terrestrial flora and fauna.

It is a preserved natural gem that is home to remarkable biodiversity, including rare and endangered endemic species such as the Lesser Antillean Iguana (Iguana Delicatissima), the Gaiac, marine turtles…

Petite-Terre represents a major issue in terms of biodiversity conservation at the local and international level, it is a refuge for nearly 150 bird species.

An eco-tourist destination that wants to respect the environment and sustainable development.

A place highly appreciated by nature lovers, and an emblem of the Guadeloupean cultural heritage.
